“This consensus committee will explore the elimination of hepatitis B and C from the United States. The committee is working in two phases. First, they considered the feasibility of elimination as a goal, with attention to social and logistical aspects of feasibility as well as scientific ones. The phase one report will be released in April 2016. In phase two, the committee will lay out a strategy to reach the goals identified in the first report. The phase two report will give attention to likely obstacles to elimination and ways to overcome them. In this report the committee will recommend actions to specific stakeholders, with some attention to the role of correctional facilities, primary care, and community health centers.
As of March 2016, the Health and Medicine Division continues the consensus studies and convening activities previously undertaken by the Institute of Medicine (IOM).”
